Honda’s luxury division is preparing one more crossover for the North American market. Since the carmaker already offers a completely new luxury compact SUV in China, we suppose that they are reconsidering to introduce the US-Specs 2018 Acura CDX in the coming months. The whole idea is pretty good since the segment grows rapidly, and the entry-level SUV can’t be a mistake. After all, Lexus is working on such a vehicle, so-called UX crossover, which is a reason more for Acura to bring its interesting CDX.
We can’t say whether the carmaker plans to add anything new, yet we know that this isn’t necessary at all. The current 2018 CDX sports an amazing exterior design, luxury-loaded interior and amazing powertrain – perfect for this kind of vehicle. Today’s model uses a small 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine that’s capable of delivering up to 182 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The mill is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends power either to the front or to all four wheels.
Styling wise, the 2018 Acura CDX won’t get anything new from the outside without any doubt. The crossover already looks amazing, so the changes are not necessary at all. On the other hand, the car manufacturer might make some adjustments inside. There will be nothing big, yet the current CDX is specially made for the Chinese market, so they have to make it more suitable for the US drivers. Plus, the United States has different regulatory standards, which might bring some additional issues that need to be resolved before the official debut.
Speaking of the debut, if everything goes according to the plan, the US-Specs 2018 Acura CDX will be introduced at 2017 Los Angeles auto show, but it will become available in early 2018. The Chinese model currently costs around $33,300, so don’t expect anything less from that when the SUV becomes available in the Unites States.
