There is no better place to see what’s cooking in European auto-industry from the Nürburgring. Today, our photographers have managed a slightly camouflaged four-ringed crossover. The vehicle is actually the sporty and all-new 2018 Audi SQ2. According to our source, the German carmaker is getting ready to introduce the high-end model next spring at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Of course, the SUV will not be available across the see in North America, because the smallest number in U.S. for Audi is 3.

As for the particular prototype, it hides its ends, so we assume that there are all changes. Up front, the 2018 Audi SQ2 features a different bumper, which will allow a far better air flow thanks to larger air intakes. The grille and headlights will most likely stay untouched. The rear end gets a new exhaust layout. That’s rather expected because the mill under the hood needs to have available pipes in order to work as it is planned. That’s why the prototype hosts four of them. We are not so sure about the “shoes” of the testing vehicle, yet the production model will definitely get larger and redesigned wheels and special performance tires. Do we have to mention bigger wheels? Of course not, this is Audi.

The most important part of the sporty crossover lies under the hood. The 2018 Audi SQ2 will use the same system as it hosts today’s S3 model. It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 capable of delivering around 310 horsepower and mated to the all-wheel drive system, which gets its power through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In case you need something heavier for some reason, you can always wait a little bit longer, because the carmaker is preparing the 2019 Audi RS Q2 model, too. This one will feature an impressive 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 with the ability to produce up to 400 ponies. The vanilla flavor won’t be bad at all, don’t you think?

Stay tuned for updates.
