2019 BMW X7: Spy Shots, Info, Engines, Rivals

2019 BMW X7 is doing everything to finish its first-ever full-size SUV as soon as it’s possible. However, the latest estimates say that the 2019 BMW X7 won’t arrive before the 2018 Loa Angeles Auto Show, which starts in November. Now, it’s unclear whether the carmaker has some problems in development or they just want to introduce it after summer. Judging by the latest spy shots, there is no such problem. Moreover, the testing vehicle looks quite ready and really interesting.

2019 BMW X7 Platform and Engines

The manufacturer went somewhere in Scandinavia to check out how the SUV is doing now. The test turned out to be not good but perfect because the X7 goes pretty smooth through the snow. Still, bearing in mind that the carmaker is using already proven technologies on its full-size SUV there can’t be a problem. Yes, the 2019 X7 is going to share a lot with the smaller X5, starting from architecture. The CLAR platform is highly stretchable and lightweight, which is pretty important for crossover’s fuel economy.

Speaking of which, the model will probably be at the very top of the segment with the economy thanks to a variety of engine options. BMW will add a V6 as a base option, though they won’t miss the chance to offer a plug-in hybrid powerplant. The electrified model will combine a 2.0-liter turbo with a single electric motor for a total output of about 320 horsepower. The electric motor will also provide a pure-electric driving range of 30 miles, though the drive will be able at some lower speeds. The 2019 BMW X7 will get some more, so-to-say, respectable options under the hood. The topper will allegedly use a V12 (don’t know which one), but we are far more interested in a 4.4-liter twin-turbo because the engine fits perfectly to the seven-seat SUV. The unit will likely deliver 456 horsepower to all four wheels via an engine-speed automatic transmission. Read More

Concept’s styling cues all-around

Styling-wise, well we hope that the camouflage hides concepts cues. The prototype of the 2019 X7 surely looks like the concept, but we hope the carmaker has no intention to touch anything because thus they can only spoil the perfect design. Inside, BMW will definitely add the best possible solutions, which will basically be borrowed from the 7-Series sedan. The crossover will steal the dash and tech for itself, though it might also add some new things, such as better safety equipment and updated infotainment.

2019 BMW X7 rivals

The 2019 BMW X7 may not cost as the Land Rover Range Rover Long-Wheelbase, but it will surely try to attack its territory. Moreover, we are pretty sure that the carmaker has no intention to compete against the Ford Explorer and similar more plebeian rivals. Instead, it will attack cream de la cream of the segment which includes the aforementioned SUV from Great Britain, as well as Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Lincoln Navigator. Let’s don’t forget the upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which will also share the category.
