2018 Cadillac Xt5 Hybrid Introduced In China

Chinese car market got the 2018 Cadillac XT5 Hybrid today, so there is a good chance to see the option in North America pretty soon. According to the information we have, the Cadillac replaced the 28T turbocharged inline-four with the hybrid powertrain named XT5 28E.

Even though it’s just a mild hybrid, the technology is always more expensive from the regular gasoline, so it’s highly important to say that the car manufacturer managed to keep the price almost unchanged.

Essentially, the crossover uses GM’s eAssist system, which paired a 2.0-liter LTG engine, an electric motor, and a nine-speed automatic transmission that additionally increases efficiency. For comparison, the U.S. model uses a V6 with 310 horsepower and achieves 26 miles per gallon. Read More

On the other hand, the new mild-hybrid powertrain will reach almost 30 mpg. However, the carmaker hasn’t revealed information on how many ponies will develop the 2018 XT5 Hybrid. However, they have mentioned that the system is using a barking recovery system as well. As far as we think, the powertrain won’t reach 300 hp, but it will be very close to the figure. Let’s say at around 280 ponies, which is more than enough power for great performance. Speaking of which, Cadillac claims that the mild-hybrid powertrain will have a positive influence on driving agility and ride comfort.

For China, the producer has prepared two versions, the XT5 28E Platinum 4WD and 28E Advanced 4WD.
