Jaguar’s lineup is going to become richer for one more long-wheelbase model. The prototype of the 2018 Jaguar XEL has been spied a few hours ago. Of course, the plus size vehicle will be sold in China only. This Asian country is the best possible soil for stretched cars, and the British automaker decided to join the new XEL to the larger and very popular XFL.
As you can see, the 2018 Jaguar XEL sports pretty much the same exterior as the regular XE sibling. Okay, the car for the Chinese market sports stretched door, which isn’t too weird when you know that the long wheelbase model adds around 6.2 inches on the existing bodywork.
Aside it gets a few touches here and there on the exterior the 2018 Jaguar XEL also sports a range of new equipment inside. From now on, the amazing sedan will use a new digital gauge cluster and a few extra active safety and convenience features. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster display comes in pair with an InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, while car’s safety adds new safety options like forward cross-traffic detection and additional parking guidance. As we have heard, the manufacturer will also add Jaguar’s rear traffic warning system, which prevents passengers in the back to open the doors when the vehicle is approaching from the rear. The interior will be enriched by an amazing Meridian sound system and with heated and cooled front seats, and heated rear seats.
The 2018 Jaguar XEL will get more power that the predecessor. The base model will use a gasoline 2.0-liter that makes 247 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed is standard, while you can choose between rear- and all-wheel drive. The topper will use a more potent supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, which will pump out 380 horsepower. This option comes paired with all-wheel drive only.
The 2018 Jaguar XL long-wheelbase will make its official debut later this year. As we already said, it’s going to be available in sold exclusively in China.
