Kia’s popular hatchback has been spied once again. The next generation Cee’d is still totally camouflaged, but the last prototype shows more new details, so we can easily conclude what’s happening beneath. The compact is likely getting a totally redesigned body, which will likely keep the essence of today’s model.
The 2018 Kia Cee’d will definitely keep the distinctive tiger-nose grille. Still, the grille is a bit reshaped and slimmer. The new headlights appear to be sleeker, while the hood sports more dynamic shape, which should make the new generation Cee’d more sportier. We can’t say for sure, but it seems that the new roofline sports more aerodynamics. Around back, the hatch features a pair of restyled taillights and more bulging back.
According to our insider, the car will lose some weight. It’s about 60 pounds, which isn’t much at all, but it’s always matters. The rigidity will be increased for 22 percent. We haven’t seen the production-ready inside, but the cab should be more driver-focused than before. The carmaker will make it clean and simple, yet with everything you can possibly need. The hatch will basically have the same interior as the Sportage SUV, except it will be smaller.
There will be a range of engine options as always. The Korean automaker will offer the 1.0 T-GDi three-cylinder turbo, 1.4 T-GDi four-cylinder turbo, 1.4-liter freely aspirated MPI, and a 1.6 CRDi turbo diesel. The 1.4-liter turbo four will deliver 138 hp and will be paired with a new seven-speed automatic transmission, while the other options are getting a standard six-speed manual gearbox.
Judging by the information we have, the 2018 Cee’d will make the official debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Stay tuned for updates.
