We are not sure how, but Mazda managed to finish an all-new vehicle, and our photographers were not capable of catching the testing vehicle. What’s more irritating, this isn’t some tiny car, but the big three-row SUV. No, we are not talking about the new generation CX-9. We are talking about the all-new 2018 Mazda CX-8. According to the car manufacturer, the high-riding vehicle will be officially introduced home in Japan very soon, and after that, it should go worldwide.
The guys from Mazda released a single teaser, which shows how it will look the luxury SUV from the inside, but this helped us to figure out what’s cooking from the outside as well. If you are not blind, you will catch an interesting roofline. Yes, the 2018 Mazda CX-8 is actually a coupe-like crossover, which will probably share most of the styling cues with the smaller CX-4.
Essentially, the all-new crossover will share the platform with the CX-9, but it will still be a little bit smaller. According to information we have, the 2018 CX-8 will be 193 inches long, 72.4 inches wide and 68 inches tall, while the wheelbase should be identical. As you can see, the awesome SUV will offer three rows of seating which will able to accommodate six or seven passengers, depending on which one option you choose. This particular model offers seating for six only, but it’s equipped with armrests and cupholders.
The Japanese version will be offered with a single engine option. The carmaker decided to add a 2.2-liter turbocharged inline-4 diesel engine that delivers around 173 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The unit is mated to a six-speed auto gearbox, which sends the power to the front (standard) or all four wheels (optional).
Mazda CEO hasn’t said anything about the arrival of the 2018 Mazda CX-8 in the United States. However, we are pretty sure this will happen very soon, so stay tuned for updates.
