2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman All4 Gets 228 Hp And 258 Lb-Ft

The 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 is finally unveiled. The topping crossover isn’t just the manufacturer’s most powerful vehicle ever, but also one of the agilest and coolest subcompacts currently available.

Mini added an amazing option under the hood. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four will pump out 228 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 1450 rpm. The unit is paired to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Is it necessary to mention that the engine runs all four wheels? As things stand now, the 2018 JCW ALL4 can’t cope with the Mercedes-AMG GLA45. German’s small SUV features 375 hp powerful engine which is out of the subcompact crossover league at the moment. Performance-wise, Mini’s new high-riding car will be able to accelerate to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, so it’s not the fastest crossover available, but it’s pretty good.

The automaker added some pretty cool kit as well. There is a sport-tuned suspension with a single-joint spring strut axle in the front and a multilink axle in the rear. They haven’t skipped the chance to add the adjustable dampers as well. For those that rather prefer better handling, the carmaker has provided a bit stiffer suspension setup.

The 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 comes with standard 18-inch wheels, but you can choose so-called Black Thrill Spoke 19-inch wheels. Brembo brakes are also standard. There are 4-piston red calipers and electronically controlled limited-slip differential in the front.

The exterior isn’t too different from the regular Countryman, but it still has some pretty unique details. The carmaker mixed Rebel Green and Chili Red paints, which made the crossover even more handsome. The front end sports a unique grille with red surrounds and JCW’s unique air intakes. Read More

Mini’s new high-performance SUV is a lot bigger than its predecessor. It’s almost 8.0 inches longer and 1.3 inches wider, and what’s more important, gets around 3 additional inches between the wheels. This will bring more available space inside, both for passengers and cargo. As for the new equipment, there is a new and pretty cool dash with a 6.5-inch infotainment display, as well as a big list of electronic driver aids. They even added a color head-up display, but this is on the “option” list.

The carmaker hasn’t revealed any pricing information. Still, the official debut of the 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 is scheduled for the 2017 Shanghai auto show, so we should found out the exact pricing details in the coming months.
