2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Will Produce Around 680 Hp

This isn’t the first time we see a prototype of the completely redesigned Porsche Cayenne, yet this particular model shows something special. As we have found out from our insiders, the German car manufacturer was testing a hybrid powertrain here. However, this isn’t any kind of hybrid, but the hybrid. Yes, you are looking at the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid – the model that uses the same powertrain as the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.

The amazing mid-size luxury SUV is getting ready to receive a mighty powertrain with a whopping output of around 680 horsepower. More precisely, the vehicle will feature a combination of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that produces 550 horsepower, a 136 horsepower strong electric motor and a 14.1-kilowatt lithium-ion battery. The drivetrain will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive and will be capable of speeds up to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Unofficially, the carmaker will limit top speed to 192 mph, while the electric-only range should be around 30 mph.

The carmaker will also introduce one less wild hybrid Cayenne. The SUV will allegedly use a 330-hp twin-turbo V-6 and the same 136-hp electric motor. The system will be able to cough up around 462 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the mill will be mated to the same eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that will send power to all four wheels.

Of course, both hybrids will sport a range of changes inside and out, but the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid will be a better option without any doubt. It won’t just get an evolutionary exterior redesign but a range of improvements inside. The carmaker will definitely add all-new infotainment and entertainment, as well as the latest semi-autonomous driving system.

Judging by the information we have, the mighty option won’t be introduced together with the regular next-generation Porsche Cayenne but shortly after, so it should become available early next year.
