SEAT is definitely building a high-performance crossover. Moreover, the topping vehicle should be released pretty soon, most likely before the end of this year. However, regardless of the fact we saw several testing models until now, neither of them wasn’t pointing out how it will look at the upcoming 2018 SEAT Ateca Cupra. Today, we managed to spot the prototype that appears to be almost ready for the production lines, and what’s more important, we managed to figure out what’s cooking under the hood.

According to the latest reports, the 2018 SEAT Ateca Cupra will use a really mighty powertrain. Yes, the SUV will get a 2.0-liter TSI engine, which will deliver around 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of twist. Some rumors indicate that there might be even more power, but we would be satisfied to see 300 ponies under the hood. Of course, the high-performance model will use the all-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed DSG transmission.

The newest prototype is showing off its special details such as more aggressive bodywork and bigger wheels (bespoke alloys of course), which are paired with beefier brakes. The crossover features lowered sports suspension, while the front-end styling switched fog lights for additional air intakes. The topper will most likely get a unique interior styling as well, but we haven’t managed to see the cab yet.

Judging by the information we have, the amazing 2018 SEAT Ateca Cupra SUV makes its official debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The European buyers will have to set aside around €40,000 for the vehicle. And no, the crossover won’t come to North America anytime soon.
