We are not so sure whether we Audi is planning to introduce an all-electric SUV which is named the Q6 or the e-tron, or even both, yet we are pretty sure that we are looking at one right now. Judging by the latest reports, this is the 2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro, the high-riding vehicle which will slat between Q7 and Q5, models. However, in contrast to Audi’s current popular SUVs that offer gasoline, diesel, and hybrid option, the E-Tron Quattro will use electric power only.
In case you’ve forgotten, the carmaker introduced the concept version a few years ago at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. As far as we can see, the pre-production prototype sports almost identical exterior styling and that is really great news because it’s going to look very attractive and quite unique. The EV SUV features a handsome front end with a chiseled grille and pretty sharp headlights. A-pillars are very aerodynamic (and so are rooflines) due to better efficiency, while the rear end gets a sloped hatch, which is identical to the concept’s.
The car manufacturer hasn’t released any official information regarding the powertrain, but we are pretty sure we know what’s going to run the 2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro. The SUV will reportedly rely on a three-motor system, with one engine hooked up with front wheels and two at the rear axle. Altogether, the motors will produce 429 horsepower and will enable a range of around 310 miles. The German car manufacturer might also add a smaller and cheaper option with two electric motors (one on each axle), which will be capable of crossover up to 200 miles.
Even though the 2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro looks gorgeous and should deliver pretty solid performance, it will choke in the dust that will leave the amazing Tesla Model X. Still, we are sure that Audi (and other German automakers) won’t lack behind Mask’s vehicles for a long time.
