BMW is getting back its flagship coupe and we have the very first spy shots of the upcoming 2019 BMW 8-Series. The amazing car has been spied completely camouflaged, yet the thin wraps are not hiding the future design. On the contrary, we can see the actual lines of the coupe, which should be ready before the end of the next year.
The prototype looks truly awesome without any doubt, but it also features some pretty familiar styling cues. The 2019 BMW 8-Series will, like most of BMWs these days, sports carmakers distinctive headlights and active shutter system for the kidney grilles. Those details seem to be the trademark of all new and next BMWs. As for the rest of the bodywork, well, the gorgeous coupe appears to sport pretty low rooflines, which fits perfectly with wide and muscular shoulders. The prototype didn’t show its interior, yet we are sure it’s going to offer a usual 2+2 seating arrangement. The cab will definitely host BMW’s latest infotainment system, as well as the next-generation gesture control.
The awesome vehicle isn’t going to feature its own platform. No, it will ride on the familiar CLAR design, which has been available since the carmaker introduced the new 7-series a few years ago. The flexible architecture will make the 2019 BMW 8-Series very light thanks to aluminum and carbon fiber materials. Plus, the CLAR enables compatibility with electrified powertrains, which is crucial in this case, because the coupe is getting some kind of plug-in hybrid powertrain for sure.
Of course, BMW will not forget to offer traditional options including a V8 and maybe even a V12. As for the V-8, this could be only the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter which delivers around 600 horsepower. This unit will probably come in a pair with the M8 model.
