2021 Cadillac XT4 Shows ITS Amazing Super Cruise System

This is the third time we caught a prototype of the 2019 Cadillac XT4. Though, this time we’ve felt some excitement, which was not the case earlier. The reason is a possibility, or better to say certain of the Super Cruise feature. Yes, the testing vehicle is actually using the feature and we have the prof. Cadillac’s autonomous driving system will make its debut with the all-new CT6. However, it seems that the carmaker won’t stop there.

XT4 Gets its Pilot

Even though we haven’t seen it in the act, the Super Cruise promises to be competitive with Tesla’s autonomous technology. That’s because Cadillac uses every available source starting from LiDAR tech and a bunch of sensors, all the way to cameras and GPS data. We are pretty sure it’s going to be a true hands-free feature without any kind of limits.

Two Options Beneath the Hood

The compact luxury crossover will also host a capable engine under the hood. As we’ve found out, the 2021 XT4 will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with exactly 272 horsepower. The potential buyers will be able to choose between front- and all-wheel-drive models, while a nine-speed automatic transmission should be the only choice. Cadillac will reportedly introduce a plug-in hybrid option, which will bring more muscles to the wheels. The hybrid will use all-wheel drive only which will get 335 horsepower and 432 lb-ft of torque from the powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter unit and two electric motors.

Detroit Debut and Price Over $30K

Design-wise, we have to admit that Cadillac still manages to keep us away from the details. As far as we can see, the 2019 XT4 will have a lot in common with the XT5, though it will be a somehow smoother variant. In any case, the prototype should start stripping pretty soon, because the carmaker plans to introduce it early next year at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

Now when we know that the 2019 Cadillac XT4 features Super Cruise we are sure it’s going to cost over $30,000. Moreover, it could even start at $35K.
