2019 Chevrolet Blazer Off-Road SUV is Coming Back

We know it’s pretty far away from the official report, but the rumors about Chevrolet’s new off-road-oriented SUV are becoming stronger and stronger. Moreover, with the arrival of Ford’s new Bronco, Chevrolet will have to react. As we have found out, the car manufacturer is planning to bring back one forgotten name – “Blazer”. Ring a bell? Of course, the all-new SUV won’t come right away, but there is a chance to see it in late 2018 as the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer.

Unofficially, the new off-road SUV will be heavily based on Colorado. Moreover, it should share the platform and most of the powertrain. At least we think so. Some reports indicate it will use the new and lightweight new C1XX architecture, but we think it will be the body-on-frame vehicle. In any case, there will be a number of amazing engines under the hood, both gasoline and diesel options. Read More

The car manufacturer will likely offer a new 3.6-liter unit. The mill is capable of delivering 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the oil-burner model should get a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel with 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet. Both options will be mated to a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.

Styling-wise, well we think it will have a lot in common with the recently introduced Colorado ZR2 truck. The front end styling will likely get the massive grille and headlights, while the hood could keep the scoop. Around back, the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Blazer should be pretty flat and boxy.

Now, the Ford Bronco isn’t the only reason for the Blazer’s comeback. As you probably know, Jeep will introduce the redesigned Wrangler in the coming months, while Toyota is working on the next generation 4Runner. According to that, it’s pretty clear that the “off-road SUV” market is growing, which is a reason more for the arrival of the 2019 Chevy Blazer.
