Chevrolet best-selling pickup truck is getting ready to get the all-new suit, but you knew then already. What you didn’t know is that the carmaker works on at least one completely new trim level. Nothing special? Well, it is, because it’s going to have an oil-burner under the hood. Yes, the manufacturer is going to introduce the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel, and the prototype you are looking at is using a diesel engine.
We are sure it’s the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel because it features a round exhaust tip, which is typical for diesel only. Plus, we know that the gasoline Silverado gets rectangular dual exhaust layout. There is nothing official, but the latest rumors suggest that there will be a V-6 turbodiesel engine under the hood. Moreover, the claim it’s going to deliver around 250 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of twist, which isn’t bad at all. The mill will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the all-new 10-speed might come as the option.
Since we know that the car manufacturer prepares a new and lightweight platform as well, we are pretty sure that the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Diesel must be ultra-efficient, most likely the class leader.
As for the styling details, it’s still everything pretty dimly due to the heavy camouflage, yet we think that the new generation truck sports a completely new and significantly lowered front fascia. Some reports suggest it’s going to be longer and wider from its predecessor, but this is not official yet.
Of course, the next generation Silverado 1500 won’t be the only diesel-powered new truck. A sibling from GRC will definitely get the same powertrain. Yes, we are talking about the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel.
