2019 Fiat 500X: Refresh, Changes, New Engines, Hybrid, Spy Shots

We were pretty sure that the changes that the 2018 Fiat 500X got for this year are not going to be everything that the carmaker plans to do. Still, this is not too hard to conclude because the crossover has received just a few new exterior colors and a bit larger touchscreen inside. The changes can’t be called mid-cycle and they are not. Instead, they are here just to keep the option fresh up to the end of the year. Yes, this year, probably fall, the manufacturer will introduce the refreshed 2019 Fiat 500X. We know that already because our photographers have managed to catch the very first prototype of the crossover.

Redesign Changes

The second update will definitely bring more changes for the 500X. The SUV appears to feature an all-new front end with a quartet of redesigned lights. More precisely, the vehicle is getting a pair of redesigned headlights and a bit slimmer fog lamps. We can’t really figure out what else is cooking beneath the camouflage, though it looks like that the crossover could also feature an updated grille and reshaped air intakes. Changes in the rear end should be more modest. Moreover, the 2019 Fiat 500X should get just redesigned taillights and nothing else new.

What to say about the car’s future interior. Well, it’s pretty hard to figure out what’s going inside. However, regardless of the fact that the crossover got a new screen this year, it should feature an update of the current infotainment. In addition, the dashboard will definitely suffer some slight changes, while seats might be covered up with new upholstery.

Under The Hood

The mid-cycle update should have a big influence on SUV’s engine lineup. The 1.4-liter unit will keep the same course, but the 2.4-liter naturally aspirated unit could easily disappear. But don’t worry about the mill, because the 2019 Fiat 500X should get something much better. If everything goes according to plan, the crossover will get a new 2.0-liter engine. Even though the unit is not going to deliver as much power as it is delivering under the hood of the new Wrangler, it will be the most potent unit powertrain available without any doubt. In addition, some reports suggest that the refreshed high-riding vehicle could add a hybrid powertrain as well. The details are a bit skimpy at the moment, but it will reportedly rely on a 48-volt system.
