Ford’s officials haven’t announced anything official, yet the latest spy shots suggest that they are definitely working on the 2019 Mustang Shelby GT500. Moreover, the powerful muscular car will be introduced sometime next year, most likely in the first half of 2018. Judging by the information we have, the Blue Oval new range-topper will get a monstrous powertrain, which will easily outperform Chevrolet’s new Camaro ZL1 and even the upcoming Dodge Challenger Demon.
According to Autoevolution.com, the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will borrow a 5.2-liter VooDoo from the Shelby GT350. The engine will be boosted with a 2.6-liter Eaton supercharger, so the total output may easily go over 800 horsepower. We have no idea whether the carmaker plans to add a new 10-speed automatic transmission, yet we are pretty sure that there will be a six-speed manual gearbox offered. It’s quite clear that the future GT500 Mustang will be a very fast piece of metal. Moreover, the latest rumors suggest it will be able to speed-up from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.0 seconds, which is impressive without any doubt.
The engine is the most important part of every fast-going muscular car, but it’s not the only thing that matters. The 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will also pack the magnetic suspension and custom, cross-drilled brake system, as well as Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and at least 19-inch aluminum wheels. Of course, they might add front shock-tower brace and firmer springs, and definitely oil coolers for the engine.
The latest prototype we caught wears some heavy camouflage in the front, so we can’t really say what’s cooking beneath. Yet, we are sure it will look gorgeous as always.
Stay tuned for updates.
