2019 Lamborghini Urus Spied and Taped at Nurburgring

Although we were pretty sure that Lamborghini’s first-ever SUV won’t get over 600 ponies under the hood, the Italian car manufacturer decided to heat up the atmosphere with a few more horses. Well, okay it’s not a few but a lot more. According to Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali, the 2019 Urus will get a staggering output of 650 horsepower. Of course, this will come from VW Group’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8, but no, it won’t be the last word of the carmaker.

Judging by the information we get, the 2019 Lamborghini Urus will also have a plug-in hybrid option available. We suspect that it will use pretty much the same powertrain as the 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The awesome sedan combines the aforementioned twin-turbo V-8 with an electric motor, getting up to 680 hp. The Lambo super-SUV might get even more power, likely over 700 horsepower, making it ready to compete with Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat.

The more powerful engine isn’t the only change in comparison with the concept model. No, the production model will also get completely different styling cues, especially in the front. The latest prototype shows an all-new bumper and grille, as well as a pair of restyled headlights. The 2019 Lamborghini Urus uses basically the same MLB architecture as the Audi Q7. However, the Italian carmaker decided to add more carbon fiber, which will shed a few additional pounds. This way, they will try to make the SUV even quicker from its bigger rival from Jeep. Still, the 2019 Urus won’t be just the fast high-riding vehicle without any guts to go off the road. No, Lamborghini CEO promised a special off-road mode for sand and snow conditions. Read More
