2019 Nissan Maxima: Spy Shots Of The Updated Sedan

It looks like Nissan is working on an updated version of its flagship sedan. The vehicle has been spotted outside a few hours ago. From what we can see, the 2019 Nissan Maxima is not going to undergo any too drastic changes at all. No, the impressive luxury sedan will just get a few tweaks here and there.

When we say “here and there,” we think on the ends of the car. The Japanese car manufacturer is hiding just them, so we suppose that the biggest changes are going to happen there. The new nose will likely largely resemble the new Altima. Though, since the 2019 Altima is not officially introduced yet, we can’t really know what’s cooking there. According to the latest reports, both cars will borrow the most interesting styling cues from the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept, which means that the refreshed Maxima is going to look edgier in the front. In addition, the grille has to be larger, while a pair of headlights is going to be slimmer and more aggressive. In the back, the sedan is going to host new, longer taillights which will also sit higher than before, and a redesigned bumper. The current testing vehicle sports the same exhaust system as earlier, though this might change when the production-ready model arrives.

The comprehensive makeover will include a number of interior changes too. If everything goes according to Nissan’s plan, the 2019 Maxima will get a new infotainment system and more standard active tech. Still, it’s important to mention that ProPilot will be just an optional feature, so we don’t really know which exactly driving assist features are going to enrich the interesting sedan.

Even though the Japanese carmaker plans to add plenty of hybrids in near future, the 2019 Nissan Maxima is not going to be hybridized this time for sure. Instead, the sedan will continue to use a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 300 horsepower (or perhaps a bit more power) and a CVT gearbox. Still, the transmission will definitely be upgraded, so the potential buyers can expect a smoother ride and likely a bit better fuel economy.

There’s no word about the arrival of the refreshed sedan. However, judging by the spy shots, there’s not much work left here, which means that the 2019 Maxima could be introduced this summer or fall.
