2019 Nissan Murano Gets A Mid-Cycle Refresh (First Spy Shots)

The third-generation Murano is getting a fresh face for the upcoming year. Yes, the awesome mid-size crossover has been caught outside partly camouflaged. The camouflage is hiding just some parts at the ends, so we are pretty sure that this is only a mid-cycle refresh. The updated SUV will probably be introduced before the end of the year as the 2019 Nissan Murano. The exact date of release is not set at this point, though the latest reports say that the U.S. dealerships won’t get the refreshed Murano before the fall. In any case, aside it’s going to get a few styling tweaks from the outside, the vehicle will also host several improvements inside.

We can’t see the interior at the moment. However, according to our insider, the 2019 Murano will get more standard safety features from a ProPilot Assist suite. In addition, the Japanese automaker plans to add an updated infotainment system, which means that the mid-size SUV is going to get pretty much the same treatment as the all-new Kicks. The standard touchscreen will be 7.0-inch big and mated to standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The base model will definitely have a backup camera and automated emergency braking, as well as Bluetooth, and at least three USB ports. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert should become standard parts of the SUV, while a 360-degree camera is going to stay just an optional feature.

The exterior changes are mostly reserved for the front end. The nose will have a slightly redesigned V-motion grille and a pair of new LED arrow-looking daytime running lamps. Below, the front bumper will likely get new fog lamps and different air intake. This particular prototype hides just taillights around back, but this doesn’t mean that this will be everything. Perhaps the carmaker prepares a new exhaust layout or even a different rear bumper.

Under the hood, the 2019 Nissan Murano will probably have pretty much the same powertrain. Today’s 3.5-liter V6 engine and a CVT are a pretty good combination, especially when they run all four wheels. However, the carmaker may reconsider to update the engine, so there may be over 260 horsepower in the future. Some reports claim that Nissan reconsiders to add a hybrid model. They have tried that already a few years ago, but the production was limited to 600 for North America. This time, however, the 2019 Murano Hybrid should become available across the globe, but we still have no idea what’s going to power the crossover.

The refreshed version of Nissan’s mid-size two-row crossover will likely keep the same base price, which is around $32K.
