The camouflage here and there means that the five-door hatchback is getting something new, but not a total redesign. Though, since the all-new model came just some three years ago, it would be foolish to make the new model before they squeeze everything from the current one. This is why the automaker works on the updated 2019 Opel Astra.

The exterior changes of the 2019 Astra are going to be minor. We know that because the camouflage doesn’t cover much. No, it’s hiding just a new grille and a different, streamlined bumper, as well as slightly restyled LED headlights. The grille will reportedly get a honeycomb treatment, while the rear end stays untouched for now.

Since it’s going to be refreshed only, the Astra K will keep GM’s architecture. This means that there will still be a range of engines offered. According to the latest reports, the current 1-liter unit will be canceled for sure. Instead, the carmaker will add PSA’s 1.2-liter mill. As for the oil-burner model, well, we assume it’s going to use the 1.5 BlueHDi. The topping 2019 Opel Astra GSi will rely on an amazing 1.6-liter turbocharged option. The engine will deliver around 200 horsepower and will be mated to a stiffer suspension and a bit reworked chassis.

The carmaker promised some new technologies and better quality materials inside of the cabin, but we are not sure what’s happening at the moment, so stay tuned for updates.
