2020 Honda Passport Spotted On Road: The Suv Definitely Shares A Lot With The Pilot

The mid-size SUV has been caught heavily camouflaged, so we can’t tell much about it at this point. The profile, however, reveals a Pilot-based shape with a slightly more aggressive front-end styling and a few distinctive details like a mesh grille and sharp and wide LED headlights. The rear end, on the other hand, appears to host a set of Pilot’s taillights.

The 2019 Passport will ride on the same platform as the Pilot. The SUV will be slightly shorter, of course, and will have fewer inches between wheels, but essentially, it’s going to have pretty much the same characteristics as the iconic Pilot. We can’t ignore a shorter rear overhang, though.

Honda’s future mid-size SUV has been spied inside as well. The spy shots of the cabin, however, don’t reveal much because pretty much everything is covered. Still, we assume that the 2020 Honda Passport hides the same things inside as the bigger sibling, including almost identical air vents, infotainment systems, and driving aids.

We are not sure what is cooking beneath the hood of the Ford Edge’s biggest rival in the future. Perhaps the carmaker decides to offer a 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 280 horsepower. To be honest, we don’t expect CR-V’s turbocharged 1.5-liter mill to be a part of the fleet. Instead, the carmaker may add some kind of hybrid powertrain, or perhaps a totally new mill, which has been rumored lately.

Essentially, the Japanese carmaker is building a roomy and comfortable five-seat SUV, but the 2020 Honda Passport may also become a seven-seat “player” if they decide to add the third row of seats as an option.
