2020 Kia Ceed Crossover is Coming: First Spy Shots

Most of the automakers have just one crossover for each segment, but that’s not going to be the case with Kia. The Korean car manufacturer is making one additional small SUV, which will be in the same category as the Stonic. The all-new vehicle will be based on one familiar model, though. According to our insiders, we are actually looking into the 2020 Kia Ceed Crossover. The carmaker will probably come up with a different name, but we still have no idea whether it’s going to get a completely new or Ceed-something.

On the other hand, we know that that the Ceed-based crossover is going to share a lot with its hatchback and wagon siblings. The vehicle will use the same chassis, pretty much the same drivetrains, and the same technology.

Performance-wise, the 2020 Ceed Crossover will have at least four engines to offer. The starting option will be paired with a 120-hp 1.0-liter turbocharged mill, while the more potent model should use a 140-hp 1.4-liter turbo. There will also be a pair of 1.6-liter types of diesel. In contrast to the Stonic that has no available AWD, Kia will most probably offer the feature with the Ceed SUV.

The actual styling of the 2020 Kia Ceed Crossover is still unknown. The testing prototype hides most of the details, but regardless of the fact, we’ve managed to scope a tiger-nose grille and Ceed’s distinctive Ice Cube headlights and the catchy taillights. The vehicle stands higher from the ground that its hatchback sibling of course. It also features a new roofline design, as well as a totally different shape of the rear door glass. It also appears that the car hosts plastic cladding around the wheel arches. Read More

Inside, well, this still unnamed crossover will definitely offer more space than the Stonic. On the other hand, it will provide pretty much the same level of comfort as the Ceed hatchback. The automaker will not make too many experiments inside, so you can expect the floating touchscreen display with navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay hook, leather upholstery, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.

This is the first time we see a testing prototype of the 2020 Kia Ceed SUV, which means that the production model won’t arrive soon. According to the latest reports, the Korean automaker will most probably introduce the SUV late next year.
