2020 Road Rover: Electric Crossover from Land Rover Rumored to Reach 300 Miles on a Single Charge

Even though it hasn’t started this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, we’ve found out the first member of the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. The car will come for Great Britain featuring Land Rover badge. More precisely, it’s going to be the 2020 Range Rover Road Rover – an all-electric crossover. Now, the car manufacturer hasn’t said anything regarding the information, but they are coming from Autocar, so it’s basically confirmed.

The 2020 Road Rover will use the same platform as the XJ sedan, which is also getting an electric powertrain. Moreover, these two will share the dual-motor system and battery, which will be good for a pretty impressive drive range of about 300 miles. If everything goes according to plan, the EV SUV will be able to speed up from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

The awesome crossover won’t have its own design language. Instead, most of the styling cues will come from the all-new Velar. Though, the 2020 Road Rover might feature a shooting brake profile and zestier interior design. Speaking of the cab, the SUV will probably hide its battery on the floor. Now, taking into account that Jaguar’s I-Pace carries a 90-kWh battery and reaches around 220 miles, the all-new Road Rover will have to have at least a 130-kWh unit. Of course, the carmaker will use plenty of aluminum across the whole body to keep the curb weight low.

Just like the “Road Rover” nameplate suggests, the electric crossover will stick to the road only, meaning that it won’t be capable of any kind of serious off-roading. According to Autocar, the finest 2020 Range Rover Road Rover will cost about £90,000, however, we expect to be priced somewhere around $100K in North America.
