Audi works on yet another all-new sloped-roof crossover at the moment. More precisely, the automaker is building several of the kind, and all of them will be heavily based on the current Q3. We are talking about the Q4 model of course. In addition to the regular Q4, the four-ringed automaker intends to add a completely electric model which will be previewed in concept form at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, as well as the more potent 2021 Audi RS Q4.
While we have nothing about the Q4 e-tron at the moment, it’s quite clear what’s going on with the 2021 RS Q4. The coupe-like SUV will use a mighty mill under the hood. The mighty beast will “spit fire” from the awesome 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 engine. The powerful mill currently develops 400 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque under the hood of the RS 3. The 2021 Audi RS Q4 will use the improved one which will reportedly squeeze off 414 horsepower. By using the super-mill the hot SUV will be able to achieve 60 mph in les then 5 seconds without any problem. Of course, the power will get to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
In addition to the mighty system, the 2021 Audi RS Q4 will also be fitted with several important upgrades. Audi Sport department will not miss the opportunity to couple the compact crossover will special suspension and bigger brakes, as well as with a few aggressive aero tweaks in form of larger air intakes in the front. Compared to the regular Q4, the sleek looking RS model will be pushed further to the ground as well, while the high-performance treatment should bring several interior changes like sports seats and steering wheel. Of course, Audi’s latest safety systems and Virtual Cockpit will be standard for the Audi RS Q4.
There’s no word regarding the arrival of the vanilla Q4 at the moment. Still, bearing in mind that the regular version is going to be introduced late this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the high-performance coupe-SUV will not become available before mid-2020 for sure.
