BMW-x7 I-performance Concept Previewed ahead of 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show

Bimmer is getting ready to introduce its all-new three-row concept at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. This so-called BMW X7 iPerformance Concept has received an interesting treatment inside and out, and we have some leaked photos of the amazing SUV.

The exterior design of the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept is quite interesting and uncommon, but that’s usual for every concept vehicle. However, we think that the production model might feature most of the styling. In any case, the most impressive part of the concept is the front end. The high-riding flagship sports a huge kidney grille and very think and narrow LED headlights, while below, the SUV gets an unusual air intake. The sides are “hollow cheeks” design, while the roof seems to be pretty smooth and panoramic, of course. The bold design brought massive alloy wheels with outlandish design and slender taillights in the back.

Inside, the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept looks more subtle, but very classy at the same time. There are two-tone leather upholstery and wood trim, as well as aluminum treatment across the dash. The steering wheel appears to be familiar, but that’s not our concern at all, but it might be Mercedes’.

The concept’s iDrive infotainment system will definitely reach production lines, though we don’t believe the instrument cluster will be totally digitalized as it is inside of the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept. As you can notice, the third row of seating is visible through the window. As far as we could see, there will be not too much space back there, but let’s wait until the vehicle arrives in Frankfurt.

BMW hasn’t revealed any information regarding the powertrain of the concept. However, we are sure it’s not featuring a fuel-cell drivetrain as some rumors suggest. Instead, the three-row SUV will likely show a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is using a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor paired with a 9.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This so-called 740e iPerformance system delivers 321 HP in total. Read More

The production BMW X7 will get a few more options under the hood. Judging by our insider, the three-row SUV ill rely on a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo, which is delivering 335 horsepower and a topping 4.4-liter TwinTurbo V8 with 445 hp. Some markets will get a few diesel options, but we highly doubt it will be offered in North America.
