Mercedes-Benz will introduce the redesigned CLA at the upcoming 2019 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The German automaker released a teaser shot of the upcoming car, but the image doesn’t really reveal anything but the new profile of the 2020 Mercedes CLA. On the other hand, a camouflaged prototype that has been spied testing in Hungary shows what exactly has been changed.

The stylish sedan is definitely larger from its predecessor. Up front, the 2020 CLA appears to have a single-bar grille with mesh treatment and unique headlights that definitely separate the CLA from the A-Class model. In addition, the redesigned car is coupled with a more aggressive bumper in the front, which also features new air intakes. The new roofline is notably sportier, so the new-gen CLA might get a bit less headroom space in the back.

The new cabin will definitely be roomier thanks to a few extra inches in length. Since it’s going to ride on MFA-2 platform the 2020 Mercedes CLA gets automaker’s impressive MBUX. The biggest highlights of the new interface are not just touch-capability and navigation, as the system also offers a natural speech that controls many vehicle functions and a hand gesture.

Under the hood, the U.S.-specs 2020 Mercedes CLA 220 will come paired with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 188 hp and 221 pound-feet of torque. The engine gets optional all-wheel-drive and a standard seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. By using the powertrain the model should be able to develop 62 mph in around 7 seconds.

The more potent version of the redesigned car wears a CLA 35 badge and comes mated to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 301 hp and 295 pound-feet of twist. The mill is coupled with the same 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while AWD comes as a standard part of the setup. The mighty powertrain will reportedly manage to speed up from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds.

According to our sources, the entry-point new-gen CLA will keep its price at around $33K. The sporty sedan will become available in showrooms this summer.
