Refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia Spied Camouflaged: The SUV Gets 9 Gears and New Face

GMC will introduce an updated version of its awesome mid-size three-row crossover sometime next year. We know this because our photographers managed to catch a camouflaged prototype of what appears to be the 2020 GMC Acadia. As you can see, the testing vehicle hides its ends at the moment, but these won’t be the only changes. No, the crossover will definitely get a few changes inside, as well as something new under the hood.

Don’t get us wrong. The refreshed 2020 Acadia will keep its existing engine options untouched. On the other hand, the existing six-speed auto gearbox will certainly make space for the carmaker’s new 9-speed automatic transmission, which is co-developed with Ford. The new gearbox should have a positive influence on SUV’s drive and handling, as well as on fuel economy numbers. Power-wise, a base 2.5-liter four will continue to deliver 194 horsepower, while an optional 3.6-liter V6 could offer a bit more from the existing 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of twist.

The exterior changes will be strictly cosmetic. There is a pair of redesigned and slimmer headlights beneath the camouflage, as well as a new grille. The grille appears to have something new in the center. This could be either a new sensor for new driving assistance features or nothing. Even though no one can really see what’s beneath the camo, some reports indicate that there should be a larger air intake across the redesigned front bumper. The rear hatch should get new taillights and different, rectangular exhaust, and this is pretty much everything. According to the latest speculations, GMC will introduce updated touchscreen infotainment inside, while everything else should stay unchanged.

The refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia will keep its base price near to $30,000, which means that the SUV stays one of the best available offers.
