2021 BMW M5 Introduced: The Sedan Gets All-Wheel Drive And 600 Hp

What’s New for 2021?

BMW freshens up the 2021 M5 with a larger grille, restyled front and rear bumpers, and updated headlights and taillights. Inside, the most notable change is a new 12.3-inch touchscreen that replaces last year’s 10.25-inch display. The system also adds Android Auto, cloud-based navigation features, and other improvements. Less obvious are the revised M mode settings, which are now easier to access thanks to being consolidated into a single button.

In addition to several new paint options, the standard brake calipers can now be finished in high-gloss black or red. The Competition model nets a new full Merino leather color scheme, a new Track drive mode, and new shock absorbers. These dampers benefit from a recalibrated control system that BMW says should improve ride comfort, especially at high speeds.

The all-new BMW M5 has been finally introduced. The furious high-end sedan will be nothing you use to for many reasons, and we are sure that you won’t accept all the changes right away, simply because they are changing the iconic M5 from the root. From now on, the astonishing vehicle will have no manual gearbox, and what’s more interesting, it’s getting an all-wheel-drive setup.

According to the Bavarian car manufacturer, the 2021 BMW M5 will rely on an improved version of the 4.4-liter V8 engine. The twin-turbo unit will produce 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Like we mentioned, the car will use an all-wheel-drive, so-called xDrive, which can be specified in the rear-drive configuration by disconnecting the front axle because it channels torque via the electronically controlled limited-slip differential. There is a new automatic transmission as well. In place of the current seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the new generation BMW M5 sports an eight-speed auto gearbox.

Features of BMW M5

Around the back, the sports sedan features new quad exhaust pipes with a new Helmholtz resonator, which sheds around 11 pounds from the system. Digital noise is still onboard, except this time the car gets M Sound Control for a tune. As for a 0 to 60 sprint, it should beat today’s 3.6 seconds time. Moreover, the producer claims are going to be exactly 3.2 seconds.

BMW made some changes to the car’s suspension system as well. The M5 features a new rear suspension with new wheel bearings and a steel X-brace. Plus they managed to boost stiffness and response, while stronger toe-control links and firmer anti-roll bars should improve steering accuracy. The potential buyers will get standard 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber, though there are optional 20-inch wheels too. In place of conventional discs, the manufacturer added aluminum two-piece brake rotors and six-piston calipers on 15.6-inch front rotors, while the rear axle gets 15-inches.

The 2021 BMW M5 will be become available in dealerships worldwide next spring. The carmaker will offer just 400 M5 First Edition units. The version pairs the amazing Frozen Dark Red Metallic paint with special kidney grilles, wheels, and window trim – all painted in gloss black. Plus, the cab features special treatment with leather and contrast red stitching.

The Bavarian automaker hasn’t released any pricing information, yet we think that the awesome sedan will cost around $100K.
