2017 Lincoln Navigator Revealed: So Damn Good Suv

We usually don’t take sides, but take that Escalade! The completely redesigned 2018 Lincoln Navigator has been introduced at the 2017 New York auto show and will blow out all its rivals without any doubt. This isn’t just another full-size SUV, but the impressive piece of work with an awesome styling, innovative equipment, and powerful engine.

Lighter and more powerful

Yes, it uses a mighty powertrain, but that’s not all. The 2018 Navigator also rides on an all-new platform. It’s basically the same architecture as it uses the new Expedition, so we know it includes plenty of aluminum and high-strength steel. This way, the redesigned vehicle managed to shed around 200 pounds and yet to maintain the usual body-on-frame construction.

Under the hood, the manufacturer added Ford’s impressive twin-turbo 3.5-liter engine that will deliver 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of twist. No, there will be no V8 mill, and yes, this is Raptor’s 3.5-liter unit. Of course, the engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission only, but you can still pick rear- or all-wheel drive.

Gorgeous inside and out

Styling-wise, we have to say that the 2018 Lincoln Navigator kept most of the cues from the concept. The front-end sports an imposing grille and pretty handsome headlights, while the bumper features quite large intakes to cool off the mighty mill.  Except they are attractive, the headlights are also adaptive to the speed, so they are wider at low speed and narrower at higher speeds. Around back, the SUV has unique taillights and a single light strip below. Oh yes, the wheels are gorgeous as well.

Take a look inside and you will figure out what’s so special about the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. The design is largely based on the Continental, but it suits better to the full-size SUV. It features plenty of leather, a bit of wood, and a nip of chrome. This isn’t the first time we see this combination, yet it’s perfectly blended.

Of course, Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment system is standard, as well as a 12-inch LCD screen. Lincoln’s tech department added pretty impressive rear-seat entertainment that includes high-resolution screens and WiFi hotspot for streaming. There are two USB for each row, Sling Media with TC channels, four 12-volt power sources, wireless device charger, a stereo with a 20-speaker Revel II system, and lots more. it’s needless to say that the infotainment supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while you can change the 12.0-inch screen for an optional head-up display.

Speaking of seats, the front passengers will enjoy in 30-way-adjustable Perfect Position Seats, which feature cooling, heating, and massage functions, while you can choose between the regular bench for three persons and two captain’s chairs for the second row. The third row is still the worst one for seating, but it features significantly more space than earlier.

Arrival

The carmaker hasn’t announced any pricing information yet, but this will happen pretty soon as the 2018 Lincoln Navigator arrives on sale this fall.
