2018 Mercedes-Benz Gla Refreshed And Higher From The Ground

It looks like Mercedes is working on the facelifted version of the new GLA model. The interesting crossover has been spied partially camouflaged, so we are pretty sure that this will be just a mild refresh. However, in addition to the cosmetic changes, the updated 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA will likely get some other improvements too. As you may see, the testing prototype is notably higher from the predecessor, which means that the vehicle gets a higher ground clearance. On the other hand, the current engine options will be unchanged.

STYLING CHANGES

The new exterior styling will sport an updated front end. Both, the bumper and grille are getting some new tweaks, while the headlights appear to have new graphics. There is the same story in the back. The rear hatch won’t suffer any big changes, except the updated taillights and bigger bumper. Of course, the interior will also feature a number of styling changes, but nothing too important.

Still, it’s far more important the fact that the updated 2018 GLA won’t be as low as we used too. The German car manufacturer will change that radically. According to the latest reports and judging by these spy shots we have, the vehicle will be higher for around one inch, which is pretty impressive. We can only imagine how it will look the off-road trim when it gets an inch more.

ENGINE OPTIONS

Like we said before, the refreshed SUV will use the same engines. This means it will offer a base turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that currently delivers 208 horsepower. We expect the same amount of power for the 2018 model, but you never know.

Of course, the range-topping AMG model will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 with 375 horsepower. This engine is boosted last year, so there will be no changes for sure. In any case, both options will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch, standard front-wheel and optional all-wheel drive.

ARRIVAL

We are not so sure about the US debut of the refreshed 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA, yet we are pretty confident that the European model is coming at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
