2019 Chevrolet Blazer Revealed: Quick Overview

Chevrolet introduced a Camaro-based crossover a few days ago. The vehicle looks fantastic just like the sports car it has been based, but we are not really thrilled with the name it carries, as the name was reserved for an off-road body-on-frame SUV for many years is back. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer is finally back, but it’s not as capable as we’ve used to.

Instead, the automaker made one more crossover to fill up the gap between the popular Equinox and the three-row Traverse. Basically, the 2019 Blazer is going to be just one more two-row mid-size crossover and nothing else. Though, we would lie if we say that we don’t like the design. On the contrary, the aggressive, dynamic lines and floating roof create real beauty, while the front end with the oversized grille and slim headlights make the SUV futuristic.

As we said, the mid-size footprint offers an additional space inside. Compared to the Equinox, the room is mostly used to create more legroom in the back, as well as more cargo space. For instance, with the folded down the second row, the crossovers get 64.2 cubic feet of space.

The cabin is loaded with the latest technologies. The manufacturer didn’t want to reveal everything at the debut, though they’ve mentioned some crucial standard features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4G LTE connectivity that enables a Wi-Fi hotspot, 6 USB ports, and a hands-free power liftgate, as well as several available options such as heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, an electronically lockable glovebox, a cargo management system, panoramic twin-pane sunroof, and wireless smartphone charging. The list of safety tech was also incomplete at the debut. However, Chevrolet did say that the topping options such are going to be the RS and Premier Blazer is going to host adaptive cruise control and a rear camera mirror, as well as hitch view for the rearview camera.

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer gets two options under the hood, both strict gasoline. A 2.5-liter inline-4 unit will provide 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque, while the more powerful 3.6-liter V6 mill produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of grunt. No matter which one you pick it’s going to be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The new-generation Chevy Blazer is not going to offer a true four-wheel-drive system as the earlier predecessors. Instead, the crossover is mated to a front-wheel-drive system or an optional all-wheel-drive setup. The RS and Premier models are fitted with a more advanced AWD with a twin-clutch that’s able to vary power to the rear wheels in order to help with handling and traction. According to the carmaker, the Blazer will be capable of towing up to 4,500 pounds, which is not a bad result at all.
