2021 Peugeot 508 Spied: The Sedan Finally Gets A New And Sexy Bodywork

The year 2021 has honored the second generation of the Peugeot 508 for two reasons. The manufacturer at the Lion unveiled its new sedan in March at the Geneva Motor Show, while the station wagon variant was presented to the public in October as part of the Paris Motor Show. Peugeot’s new mid-size sedan is still far away from the production lines, and yet the carmaker is doing its best to hide every single detail from us. Yes, we managed to catch a car that appears to be the all-new 2021 Peugeot 508, but no, we can’t say what’s hiding beneath the camouflage.

As far as we know, the upcoming 508 will ride on the EMP2 platform. The new architecture should be capable of fighting against VW’s impressive models that use the MQB. Plus, this way the French carmaker tries to speed up the development and reduce cost as far as it will be able. Anyway, the new generation Peugeot 508 is largely late. Taking into account that today’s model lasts since 2011, it’s quite clear that it desperately needs improvements.

Judging by the spy shots, the 2021 Peugeot 508 will be a sleek, almost coupe-like sedan, bigger and lighter from the predecessor, and capable of beating Volkswagen’s reliable yet boring Passat. Peugeot’s new mid-size sedan will definitely steal a sloped profile from the stunning 2014 Exalt concept. Plus, the front end styling sports an attractive treatment with vertical headlights, daytime running LEDs, as well as the carmaker’s trademark Lion badge. Up in the back, the sedan features taillights that are extending onto the trunk lid and a dual exhaust layout. However, the most important part of the rear hatch is new body lines, which reveal a liftback design.

The manufacturer hasn’t said anything regarding the performance of technologies, yet we are sure it’s going to host driver assistance and autonomous driving technologies. The system includes hands-free steering, and automated braking in traffic, on highways, and during parking. Performance details are stacked somewhere in the mess, yet we are pretty sure that there will be nothing smaller from a 1.6-liter turbo option. Of course, the topper will use a 2.0-liter, yet there should be some oil-burner option as well.

There will be more information about the 2021 Peugeot 508 pretty soon, so stay tuned.
