2019 Ram 1500 Limited Spy Shots

There are about two weeks left before the 2018 Detroit Auto Show starts. The show will bring a number of premieres, but it seems that the half-top pickup trucks may be the biggest stars in the Motor City. The next-gen Ram 1500 will definitely take part of the show. However, before the show starts, the carmaker has to check out every single detail, which is a good chance for our photographers to hunt the beast down. They managed to show the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited model a few days ago. The pickup is still camouflaged, but the changes are pretty clear.

It’s quite obvious that the next-gen Ram 1500 Limited sports a totally new face. The fresh front end seems to feature a redesigned, somehow sharper grille design, which has been surrounded with a ton of chrome. The chrome lines continue up to the end of the headlights, which are also redesigned. The face sports a totally new mouth as well, though the air intake in the front bumper gets a mesh design. Below, the truck features a pair of two hooks. The rear end reveals a new tailgate, which should feature some new technologies, while a pair of taillights appear to be significantly larger than before. Below, the truck hosts a new rear bumper with a dual exhaust layout. We’ve seen the new interior earlier. The cab will host a completely new and notably larger infotainment screen. Still, the gauge cluster will definitely stay analog, which is good.

The carmaker will definitely try to shed as many pounds as it is going to be possible, but not for all costs. No, the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited (or any other Ram 1500) will not become all-aluminum as it became the biggest rival from Ford. Instead, the new platform will be lightweight thanks to the better steel and some aluminum. Plus, it’s going to be adjusted to accommodate a range of new options under the hood. Ram will update most of the existing engine options. Both V8 and V6 gasoline will provide more power and better fuel economy, while the new hybrid system will be the biggest news beneath the hood. The hybrid will reportedly mostly rely on a turbocharged four-cylinder which has been introduced sometime earlier with the new-gen Wrangler. The manufacturer will introduce the diesel too, but the oil-chugging option isn’t going to be available right away.
