2019 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE PHEV: EVERYTHING WE KNOW SO FAR

We’ve seen a couple of testing models of the next-generation Evoque in the past several months, so it’s clear that the British carmaker definitely prepares a completely redesigned vehicle. According to our source, the luxury compact SUV will be ready before the end of 2018 and will feature plenty of new options beneath the hood. Moreover, the manufacturer plans to add the 2019 Range Rover Evoque PHEV for the first time.

The plug-in hybrid crossover will get an efficient powertrain, but we don’t expect too many horsepowers from it at all. Though, we have no precise information on how much power will come from the system that combines a small 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and a sole electric motor. Who knows, perhaps the system delivers enough power to compete with the biggest rivals. As for us, we think it’s going to be a close 200 hp. Anyway, as we said, the hybrid drivetrain will host the motor, but it won’t be mated to the axle at all. No, the carmaker will put it between the engine and transmission (probably nine-speed), yet it will get its power from a lithium-ion HV battery.

The 2019 Evoque PHEV should feature better fuel economy from the oil-chugging options, simply because it’s going to cost more. Styling and equipment will match the regular model without any doubt. Judging by the spy shots we got earlier this year, the Land Rover’s compact crossover will steal almost everything from the all-new Velar. Okay, it’s not going to be as dynamic as the Velar, but it will host the same grille, lights, and front bumper. Plus, the carmaker will probably add the same equipment.

According to the latest report, the new generation Range Rover Evoque will switch its platform. The new architecture will reportedly make the SUV lighter and larger. In addition, it’s going to be compatible with a range of engines, including all-electric options. If this turns to be true, that the 2019 Range Rover Evoque Plug-In Hybrid is just the workup for the real deal. Still, the electric Evoque won’t become available before 2019 without any doubt.
