2019 Volkswagen Jetta Teased Ahead Of 2018 Detroit Auto Show Debut

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta will be introduced at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. However, the interesting car has been teased ahead of the debut with a few shots already. Judging by the images, the final design will definitely bring far exciting styling cues inside and outside. Still, the cosmetic changes are not everything the new Jetta features. No, the sedan is completely new.

The aging PQ35 architecture has been replaced by VW’s stretchable MQB platform, which supports a dozen of cars. Aside from it’s highly flexible, the underpinning is also lightweight and that’s going to be a great benefit for the 2019 Jetta. In addition, the sedan will grow exactly 1.3inch in length and about an inch in width. It’s not much, yet the front-seat arrangement looks a far more spacious thanks to the lowered dashboard.

Speaking of the cabin, well, we can’t shake off the feeling that we’ve seen this somewhere already. Moreover, we are pretty sure that the MkVII Golf offers the exact digital instrument cluster. That’s not bad at all, yet the feature isn’t going to be available as a standard part of the equipment. No, this is reserved for some higher trims.

The completely redesigned Volkswagen Jetta won’t look exactly the same as the teaser sketches suggest. No, it should be a bit less aggressive. Thought, the ends will receive the shown cues and this is really great. The sedan will definitely feature the wide grille which is connected with a pair of attractive LED headlights.

The vehicle will borrow the quarter-windows from the Passat for the C-pillar, as well as pretty much the same rear end. The rear hatch incorporates LED taillights and Passat’s trunk lid. The catchy design is completed with the dynamic profile that features a very attractive body-side crease.

Under the hood, the 2019 VW Jetta will rely on a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. The mill is going to be paired either with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer hasn’t released any output figures so far, yet we are pretty sure that the engine will deliver around 150 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

Volkswagen will also offer the new Jetta GLI. The topping version will use a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. The unit is currently producing 210 hp and 207 lb-ft, yet the updated engine should pump out at least 220 ponies. The German carmaker will not skip the chance to offer a plug-in hybrid model as well. However, the option isn’t going to be introduced right away, but sometime later. Read More

In any case, the 2018 North American International Auto Show starts in a month, so stay tuned for more info about the 2019 Jetta.
