2020 Chevrolet Trax Spy Shots and Redesign Changes

The spy shots of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax have been photographed at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds in Detroit. The small SUV features a heavy camouflage which says that we are looking at the totally redesigned vehicle. This makes sense since the manufacturer introduced the updated version last year. Though, we have to say that we haven’t expected any testing prototype yet.

In any case, regardless of the fact it’s has been caught camouflaged now, the 2020 Trax won’t be ready before late 2019. More precisely, the automaker has no intention to introduce it sooner because the refreshed model won’t say its last word, so to say.

The changes across the exterior design are not too evident at the moment. Still, we’ve managed to see something very important. The new-gen Chevy Trax will be larger form its predecessor. Both length and width will get a few additional inches, which will definitely have a positive influence on crossover’s cabin. The prototype shows a bit more dynamic design than earlier, which appears to be influenced by the new Blazer. We also suspect that the front end hides pretty much the same grille as Blazer’s, while the new set of headlights seems to be slimmer. The crossover will retain its slope in the rood, while the rear end gets a bulkier shape.

It’s not quite clear whether the automaker plans to use an updated version of the current Gamma-2 platform or the highly modular VSS-S architecture. If you ask us, the second one definitely has better odds, because thus the production of the SUV becomes cheaper. Power-wise, the 2020 Chevrolet Trax will likely keep the current 1.4-liter turbocharged mill. Still, the engine will probably be updated and upgraded in order to deliver more power. Plus, the carmaker will not skip the chance to add an optional 9-speed automatic transmission.
