2020 Ford Bronco Teased, Baby-Bronco Is Coming Too

Jeep is winning the off-road SUV battle at the moment, but this is not too hard at all because there are no too many worthy rivals of the new-gen Wrangler. This 2020 Ford bronco is going to change pretty soon because Ford’s all-new Bronco seems to be ready. Blue Oval has previewed the SUV with a teaser, while the actual model should be introduced early next year at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. However, if you think that the 2020 Ford Bronco is going to be everything the carmaker prepares for its off-road lineup, think again because they are also working on an all-new, so-called Baby-Bronco.

The footprint of the unnamed small off-road SUV is going to be pretty much the same as the Escape’s, which means that this could be Jeep Renegade’s rival. The teaser of the mini Bronco suggests that the vehicle won’t look like today’s crossovers at all. Instead, Ford is building a proper, boxy-shaped SUV with a bit softened corners and interesting, muscular hood. The teaser also points out rails, which is a rather expected feature, because the off-road SUV need the option.

In contrast to the baby option that shows something, the 2020 Ford Bronco is still totally covered. Still, the thin sheet doesn’t really hide the basic shape, so we know already how good is going to look at the new-generation Bronco. The boxy shape is so evident beneath, as it is a dominant and long hood. The front end doesn’t reveal the future grille or headlights, but the nose seems to be blunt. An upright windshield and a spare tire around back as also something the SUV definitely has, while under the skin the carmaker used the familiar T6 platform. The architecture is used overseas for the Everest mid-size SUV, though it seems that fits Bronco’s needs as well.

The platform will likely be updated in order to support Ford’s latest technologies. The list will not only include some of the best EcoBoost engines, but also a hybrid powertrain. Yes, the off-road SUV will get the hybrid right away. The system will reportedly include an EcoBoost technology and an electric motor that will be in charge to provide low-end torque aid in tricky off-road situations. Some reports indicate that the carmaker prepares the 2020 Bronco Diesel as well. The idea isn’t too crazy at all because the body-on-frame SUV has a lot in common with the Ford Ranger. The mid-size pickup truck offers a diesel engine, so why would not Ford add the oil-burner under the hood of the new-gen Bronco too? In any case, a four-wheel drive will be a standard part of every model and all engines will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
