2020 Land Rover Discover Sport Spotted Updated: Changes and Improvements

Today’s Land Rover Discovery Sport was introduced in 2016, which means that the SUV needs to be updated soon. According to an Autocar report, this is going to happen in the coming year. Moreover, they’ve managed to catch a testing prototype a few days ago. The SUV will reportedly host several exterior changes and some important updates inside. However, the most essential improvements will definitely happen under the skin and beneath the hood.

Judging by the British car magazine, the prototype of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport rides on the updated platform, which will from now on, be able to accommodate a range of electrified powertrains. This means that the updated SUV is definitely getting at least one of the kind. We suspect it’s going to be a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery. In addition, the architecture will reportedly make the crossover more rigid and will reduce cabin noise by around 10%.

Speaking of the cabin, the mid-cycle update will likely include some better quality materials, which will make the 2020 Land Rover Discover Sport capable to match the new Volvo XC60. The potential buyers will also get a totally new infotainment system with multiple screens which made debut inside of the all-new Velar.

The exterior changes will, on the other hand, be mild and almost imperceptible. The 2020 Discovery Sport will get an updated front end with larger air intakes and new headlights, while the rear hatch should feature a pair of updated taillights and nothing else.

The refreshed SUV will make debut early next year. This means that sales should start next summer. Since it’s going to be refreshed only, the base version of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will probably keep its price unchanged.
