2020 Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid: Spy Shots and First Details About The SUV

Ford intends to electrify its current lineup as soon as it’s possible. However, the task is not simple at all because EV and plug-in hybrid technologies are constantly making progress, so it’s pretty hard to keep pace. Still, Blue Oval Company is one of the greatest in the world and we are sure that they have something in mind. Moreover, they’ve promised 7 totally electrified models in the coming years and a bunch of hybrids. One of the kinds has been spotted testing in Dearborn, though it’s important to mention to say that the prototype didn’t wear Ford badge when we caught it. No, this is something better. Okay, “better” may not be the best word, because the 2020 Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid won’t be better from the Escape with the same powertrain. It will rather be an upscale option with better equipment.

Though, since the camouflage hides familiar design which has been previewed at the last New York Auto Show we dare to say that the 2020 Aviator Plug-In Hybrid is going to look better than the Escape too. The vehicle will keep the prototype’s styling cues including sleek lines and interesting front end, which hosts Lincoln’s distinctive grille and gorgeous headlights.

The cabin will definitely have 12-inch tablet-styled touchscreen infotainment. The system will be paired with a number of interesting options like Bluetooth, Navigation, Sync Connect, and Mobile Apps while driving aids should offer standard lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking. Of course, the manufacturer will couple the cabin with the best possible upholstery and high-end materials.

It’s not yet clear what exactly is going to power the upcoming 2020 Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid. As far as we’ve heard, the crossover will use either a twin-turbo V6 and an electric motor or a four-cylinder turbo and an electric motor. Either way, the option will be very powerful without any doubt.

The electrified version of the Aviator won’t be introduced until early 2019, so stay tuned for updates.
