2020 Porsche Mission E: Electric Sedan Spied Outside, Getting 600 Hp And 310 Mile-Range

Our photographers managed to catch the first production prototype of the all-new electric sedan from Porsche. The vehicle is still far away from the official arrival, but the testing model shows what we can expect from the 2020 Porsche Mission E. Yes, the electric car will reportedly be ready for 2019, making its official debut as the 2020 model.

The prototype shows pretty much everything we saw back in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show when the German car manufacturer introduced the concept model. There is an elegant front end taken from 918 Spyder and a fastback roof which reminds on the current Panamera a little bit, while the fenders seem rather bulging, which is taken directly from the concept without any change. The rear end shows exhaust pipes, but that’s not going to be here when the production model arrives. No, these are fakes, but we will not fall for that of course.

As for the bodywork, it has to be ultra-lightweight to boost a car’s efficiency. That’s why it’s featuring a mixture of carbon fiber, aluminum, magnesium, and steel. Still, the most important part is E’s powertrain of course. If we have the right information, Porsche’s all-electric car will get its powertrain from the 919 hybrid race car. The system will basically use two compact electric motors, which will allow the carmaker to use the rest of the space for bigger battery cells. Power-wise, the powertrain will develop up to 600 horsepower, or maybe even more. That’s going to enough for a 0-60 sprint below 3.5 seconds. The topping model should be able to cross at least 310 miles on a single charge, though the carmaker will introduce a less expensive model with a range of around 200 miles.

The less expensive 2020 Porsche Mission E sedan will likely cost around $85,000, but the topper will easily cross $100K figure.
