Hyundai Grandmaster Concept

Hyundai and their sister company Kia are working on their all-new full-size SUVs at the moment. Both of them have been spotted testing over the past few months, so we have a pretty good clue what the Korean manufacturers are planning to do. Now, however, we are even closer to the final design thanks to the Hyundai Grandmaster concept that has been previewed at the 2018 Busan auto show several days ago.

The concept SUV didn’t reveal anything regarding the powertrain or interior, but the carmaker prepares from the outside. As far as we understand, the Grandmaster presents Hyundai’s latest design language. This so-called “Sensuous Sportiness” design language has been shown earlier at this year’s Geneva auto show when the automaker introduced the awesome Le Fil Rouge concept. Even though the concepts represent totally different categories there are several touch points that make it quite similar, such as sleek and sexy lines which are perfectly balanced with proportions and technologies. Even the SUV concept looks a bit coupe-like, though not overly, so the carmaker should be able to stand in line with the biggest names of the segment.

Hyundai didn’t point out the name of the future SUV or any technical characteristic, but we are sure that flagship is going to be called the Palisade. In addition, the carmaker will exploit a new front-wheel-drive platform with transverse engines and all-wheel-drive capability. The 8-seat model will reportedly come mated to a new Biturbo 3.3-liter V6 which is going to deliver exactly 365 horsepower. The Grandmaster-based SUV will also get a hybrid setup that will host a 3.5-liter V6 engine and an electric motor with a total output of 400 horsepower. Read More
