Refreshed 2019 Ford Mondeo Wagon Spied Outside

Judging by the spy shots we’ve received, the upcoming 2019 Ford Mondeo Wagon is not going to receive too many changes. Still, even though the testing prototype hides its ends only, this doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be nothing essentially different. That’s because the wagon hosts the biggest improvements under the hood.

According to our insider, the refreshed 2019 Mondeo Wagon is going to get two completely new engine options. The carmaker will get rid of the Peugeot-sourced 2.0-liter diesel in favor of the all-new oil-chugging option. Still, we have to admit that we have nothing about the new 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel at the moment. On the other hand, the new 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged mill is quite familiar since it powers the new Focus and Fiesta ST. The three-pot mill pumps out 198 horsepower (200 PS) in its base variant. The carmaker may reconsider the more potent version, though. This way, they could add a high-performance version of the 2019 Ford Mondeo Wagon which will be able to squeeze-off up to 271 horsepower (275 PS) from the L Dragon engine. No matter which option the potential buyer choose it’s going to be paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

As we said earlier, the camouflaged prototype hides just the ends. This means that the carmaker does not intend to mess off with the body of the wagon. Instead, the facelifted car will feature just an updated front end with a slightly refreshed grille and redesigned bumper which seems to get new air intakes. Both headlights and taillights will host new graphics and LED treatment, while the rear end could get a different exhaust system that’s going to be suitable for the new engines.
