Subaru Baja is bringing back its Baja pickup truck. No, it’s not the mistake; we are sure about this matter. Well, okay the carmaker didn’t confirm the name of the vehicle yet, but our insider is pretty sure about this matter. The workhorse will return in 2019; however, it will essentially different from the Outback-based truck. The 2020 Subaru Baja pickup will be a larger and more attractive option from its predecessor. Plus, it won’t be based on the outback at all. Instead, the carmaker will use the Viziv 7 concept as the basis. The attractive concept previewed Subaru’s upcoming 7-seat SUV, but it will also borrow most of the styling and some features to the truck.
The 2020 Subaru Baja will reportedly use an all-new four-cylinder engine. It’s the ultra-efficient 2.4-liter unit which will allegedly deliver up to 300 horsepower. The mill will come in a pair with all-wheel-drive of course, which will get the power via a CVT transmission. If the future mid-size pickup truck turns out to be popular, the carmaker from Japan will also add a hybrid powertrain.
Subaru Raja will definitely make the Baja truck very attractive. We know that because the Viziv 7 concept looks awesome, so it will be pretty hard to ruin this almost perfect design. The carmaker will give the pickup just a little but off-road characteristics of course. Still, the 2020 Subaru Baja will be originally oriented to the road. The aforementioned concept gets 204.7 inches in length, but the workhorse might add some additional inches (probably 15) for the longer bed to outmatch Ridgelines 210 inches. We also expect at least 5,000 pounds of towing capacity, because thus the Baja will be able to match with Honda’s truck. Read More
