Volkswagen Tarok Compact Pickup Truck Concept Introduced In Brazil

Volkswagen made an interesting premiere at the 2018 Sao Paulo International Motor Show. The automaker introduced a compact-sized pickup truck concept, which will reportedly arrive in the production guise sometime in 2020. Even though VW didn’t underline where else except in Brazil the truck is going to be available, it’s clear even now that chances for the U.S. arrival are not too big at all. Regardless of the fact, the Volkswagen Tarok seems to be an interesting option, and here is why:

It’s pretty simple to describe the exterior styling of the compact pickup truck. In case you don’t see the resemblance, just take a look at the latest T-Cross crossover SUV and everything will be pretty clear to you. Moreover, we expect to see the identical front end when the production model arrives because the automaker should take off some LED accents, while the model must get normal headlights. In the back, the vehicle sports an interesting taillight design and bumper, while the profile reveals a Targa-inspired roof bar. Altogether, the pickup looks quite sleek, don’t you think? Things are even better when we see these all-terrain tires because the vehicle could actually go off the path and survive. The Volkswagen Tarok shows an extraordinary bed, which is basically very small and short. Still, in case the driver needs to transfer long items, space can be easily enlarged because the back of the passenger cab can fold down. In that case, the bed achieves 109 inches in total.

The cabin looks simple, yet quite useful and modern. What’s more important, it also looks ready for use, which means that you can expect pretty much identical treatment when the production model arrives.

Under the skin, you will find VW’s MQB architecture, while beneath the skin the concept gets a 1.4-liter TSI good for 150 horsepower. The production model will also offer a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel with 148 horsepower. Both options will come paired with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system and a six-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter.
