2021 Mini Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door Spied Refreshed

What’s New for 2021?

Manual-transmission Minis took a hiatus recently, but the six-speed stick is once again available for 2021 Cooper and Cooper S models, including the three- and five-door Hardtop models in addition to the convertible. Mini has also expanded availability of the value-oriented Oxford Edition model, which used to be exclusively for recent college graduates and U.S. military members but is now offered for everyone.

This small car you are looking at is known as the Hardtop 4 Door or as the Mini 5 Door overseas. More precisely, this is a testing prototype of the 2021 Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door. Read More

Even though it’s completely camouflaged, the car is getting just a few tweaks here and there. As far as we see, the 2021 Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door will feature a revised pair of headlights and perhaps a redesigned bumper in the front. It’s almost the same story around back. The prototype hides the bumper, so that’s the place where the carmaker might change something. Plus, the taillights should get some small changes.

The Mini Cooper S Hardtop 4 Door will keep the same options under the hood. Okay, the engines might get a few additional ponies, but nothing big. What’s going to be really big is a hybrid model. Yes, the British car manufacturer, or better to say BMW, will likely add a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The system has been introduced with the new Cooper S E Countryman, so we know it’s a perfect combination of a three-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, which creates 221 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque.

The restyled Hardtop 4 Door should be introduced early next year.
