2018 Lexus LX570 Superior: What’s Superior Here?

Believe it or not, Lexus decided to introduce a facelifted version of the LX SUV once again. Bearing in mind that the third-generation model had been introduced in 2007 and received three refreshes since then, the car manufacturer might reconsider the possibility of adding the totally redesigned, fourth-generation LX? Well, that’s not going to happen, at least not now. Instead, they decided to update, or better to say to add one new trim level for Russia and the Middle East. The Gulf-bound SUV will be sold as the LX570S, while the Russian drivers are getting the 2018 Lexus LX570 Superior.

Styling changes, but nothing essentially different

Now, since the special trim isn’t getting anything too important or essentially different, how come it’s Superior? Well, we don’t know the answer, but we know it’s not better from the predecessor, simply because it features just cosmetic changes.

As you can see, the front end styling is “embellished” with a pair of new LED headlights and a restyled front bumper. The grille features the same shape, but it sports black inserts and a different mesh treatment. The 2018 Lexus LX570 Superior features characteristic black wing mirror covers and larger 21-inch alloy wheels with 275/50 tires. Side sills seem to be deeper than earlier, while in the rear, the SUV has redesigned a more attractive bumper. Still, no matter how interesting the cosmetic changes are, the only difference that’s going to make some improvement is adaptive shock absorbers and nothing else.

Inside, the 2018 Lexus LX570 Superior even more modest changes. The “Superior” side of the cab includes aluminum pedals and a new red interior with black accents, while you can get black ceiling headlining for some extra money.

Unchanged performance

One of the last true body-on-frame trucks will keep the options under the hood unchanged. Just like all “570” models, the LX570 Superior also features a 5.7-liter V8 engine with 274kW of power and 530Nm of torque (372hp and 394lb-ft of twist), which will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

Price of 2018 Lexus LX570

We are not sure whether the manufacturer plans to introduce the 2018 Lexus LX570 Superior in the U.S., but if that happens, you will probably have to set aside at least a thousand dollars over the existing $90,855.
