2019 LEXUS ES SPIED REDESIGNED: SEEMS TO BE SMALLER, GETTING TNGA PLATFORM, MAYBE MORE POWER

Have you recognized this car? Well, we managed to figure out what’s going on here. This is the prototype of the new generation 2019 Lexus ES. Why 2019? The redesigned model is somewhere in the middle of development, so we think it’s going to be finished sometime in 2018, most likely in the second half of the next year.

According to our source, the 2019 Lexus ES will share the same platform with the new Prius. It’s Toyota’s New Global Architecture which can support both hybrid and gasoline engines. Lexus’ ES sedan won’t feature the Prius’ hybrid powertrain as earlier. The car manufacturer will rather keep the current 3.5-liter V6 that produces 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. Though, the mill might get a few extra ponies. Who knows, perhaps the carmaker manages to pull out all 300 horsepower from it. As for the hybrid, we have no closer information aside it won’t be the current one. No, the manufacturer will reportedly add a more potent hybrid from today’s 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-four paired with two electric motors and capable to develop 200 hp.

Even though it’s completely camouflaged, the changes on the 2019 Lexus ES are so obvious. The new generation car is rumored to take place of the smaller GS model, which is a reason why it looks significantly smaller from the predecessor. Aside it’s smaller the prototype appears to feature a far more athletic profile along with sharper roofline. Still, the front end will definitely keep the distinctive grille and bumper, while headlights might sport aggressive design.

Judging by the latest reports, the completely redesigned and Lexus ES will be introduced next year at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The price will is unknown at the moment, but we will find out more information in the coming months.
