2019 CHEVY BLAZER NEW SPY SHOTS: NEW CROSSOVER WITHOUT ANY OFF-ROAD KIT

You can forget everything we said earlier about the new generation Blazer. The vehicle is really coming back, but it’s not going to be as cool as we remember. More precisely, the car manufacturer is building just one more crossover. Yes, the 2019 Chevy Blazer will be a road-oriented high-riding vehicle without any serious off-road capabilities.  How do we know? Well, just look at the spy shots and you will see that there is no off-road kit at all.

Even though heavily camouflaged, the prototype shows all we need to know. It’s using pretty small wheels and it’s too close to the ground. However, what’s far more important, the vehicle isn’t featuring any kind of body-on-frame platform at all. No, it’s actually riding on GM’s C1XX platform, so instead of a rugged SUV, you will see just one more crossover. Still, as much as we are disappointed with Chevrolet’s decision, we have to mention that they needed this kind of vehicle as well. A gap between the full-size Traverse and the compact Equinox is too big, so the mid-size crossover seems like a reasonable idea. However, we would rather prefer some other nameplate for the new vehicle.

Anyway, aside from it’s going to use Acadia’s architecture, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer will also get pretty much the same powertrains. The crossover will probably rely on a 2.5L I-4 with 193 hp and 188 lb-ft and an optional 3.6L V-6, which produces 320 hp and 271 pound-feet of twist. Though, there is a big possibility of seeing a new 2.0-liter turbocharged unit as well. The mill powers the topping Equinox, so it’s could be one of the options under the hood of the new generation Blazer too. No matter which engines the carmaker decides to use, they will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission only, which will power front- and all-wheel drive.

Our reliable source claims that the 2019 Chevy Blazer should be ready for the 2018 North American International Auto Show. The price should start a bit below $30,000, which means it’s going to compete in the same segment with Ford’s amazing Edge crossover.
