Chevrolet’s interesting mid-size crossover is definitely going under the knife. However, the refreshed model won’t be introduced this year, but sometime in 2018. Yes, regardless of the fact that the 2019 Chevy Malibu features a ton of camouflage all around, it’s going to get just a few styling tweaks here and there. More precisely, the car manufacturer will redo front and rear ends and nothing else from the outside.

Just kidding of course. Anyway, it appears that the mid-sizer is getting a bit lowered grille from the current. The headlights are totally hidden, which is a clear sign that there will be some changes here. On the other hand, we managed to catch what’s new on the front bumper. Yes, it’s featuring a pair of completely redesigned fog lamps and a new shape of side vents.

Around back, the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu looks a bit wider from today’s model. However, we are sure that they didn’t mess with the car’s shell. Instead, they lifted tops of the fenders, making the rear end somehow widened. In addition, the producer won’t skip the chance to restyle taillights as well. Plus, there will be a few new exterior colors and redesigned alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the 2019 Malibu will probably keep the current options unchanged. Still, there might be something new as well. According to the information we have, you may feel a smell of diesel here. Yes, the mid-size sedan could actually get a 1.6-liter turbodiesel, which is now available with the new Cruze and Equinox. The base model will keep its 1.5-liter with 160 horsepower and six-speed auto, while the optional 2.0-liter gets 250 hp and the smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic gearbox. Of course, the carmaker will continue to offer a hybrid model, which will be unchanged as well.
